Thank you for your support of Star of David’s Evangelical Ministry<\/strong>.\u00a0 We believe that giving is a personal choice, is a matter of the heart and is pleasing to God. \u00a0A heart motivated by grace, gives. As givers we determine the measure of our return. \u00a0We have the authority to determine how much or how little.

The parable of the talents found in\u00a0Matthew 25:14-30<\/a>\u00a0teaches that people are accountable and responsible to God for the way they use the resources they are given. They are expected to \u2018steward\u2019 or \u2018manage\u2019 these for the One who \u00a0has given them. God wants us \u00a0to reinvest into His Kingdom the talents and gifts He has given us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

What is Gift Aid?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Gift Aid gives you an extra 25p for every \u00a31 you donate.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Gift Aid is an income tax relief designed to benefit charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC). If you\u2019re a UK taxpayer, Gift Aid increases the value of your charity donations by 25% because the charity can reclaim the basic rate of tax on your gift at no extra cost to you.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does Gift Aid work?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The process is simple; all you need to do is fill out a Gift Aid Declaration form. This is a statement from you to the charity confirming that you want to donate through\u00a0Gift Aid\u00a0and receive tax back on your donation. Charities don\u2019t pay tax on most types of income, which is why the tax paid on financial gifts to charity can be claimed back.<\/span><\/p>\n

Your donations won\u2019t qualify for Gift Aid if they are more than four times what you\u2019ve paid in tax that tax year. If you stop paying enough tax at any point, you must let the charity you\u2019re donating to know.<\/span><\/p>\n

Am I eligible for Gift Aid?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

For a charity to claim Gift Aid on your donation you must first have paid UK Income or Capital Gains Tax that financial year.\u00a0The tax you pay must be equivalent to the amount of Gift Aid the charity will reclaim on your donation that tax year, (and will be claimed by other charities and CASCs). VAT and Council Tax do not meet this criteria.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

From April 2016, the income tax personal allowance has increased to \u00a311,000 for individuals born after 5 April 1948. If your income is below \u00a311,000, you will no longer be able to claim Gift Aid on eligible donations.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting, you can\u2019t make donations on behalf of someone else or a company.<\/span><\/p>\n

What if I pay higher rate tax?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a higher rate taxpayer, you can claim additional tax benefits for the donations you make to charity, which you can keep or pass on to a charitable organisation.\u00a0Simply indicate how much you\u2019ve donated when completing your tax self-assessment form.<\/span><\/p>\n
